Here's the first 30 seconds of my video. . . it has a few bugs still, I think I accidentally deleted some of the wrong frames and that is making it get all datamoshed. I don't plan on keeping it like that, I just didn't have time to mess with it before class. I am also planning on making it both goofy and introspective, I just haven't gotten to the theoretical part yet.
Go team MCluhan!

Hey Liz,
ReplyDeleteThis is really great! I really like the beginning reference to the televisual medium. I think it's good that you're using a lot of iconic youtube videos and cutting them together. There's something really interesting happening with media these days in terms of what becomes a recognizable image and what constitutes fame in a post-television society. This makes your first shot even more apt. I actually just saw a program tonight at the Nightingale by an artist named Jacob Ciocci that you would have found rather interesting. He coined the term datamoshing and was one of the first artists to use the technique for creative purposes. I'm curious to see what the rest of the video looks like. Seems like you're getting into interesting territory.
By the way, were you referencing Marshall McLuhan? (in your post, not necessarily the video.)
